A Mother’s Day buffet of movies for all tastes was a rousing succe$$ with PRADA 2 still #1 with $43M.

Disney/20th Century Studios’ PG-13 dramedy THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA 2 was what MOMS most wanted to see. In its second weekend, per Comscore, it was off just 44% at 4,200 theatres ($10,238).

It’s done $144.8M domestic and $433.2M worldwide. BUDGET BUZZ: about $100M to produce. The 2006 original did $326.6M worldwide on a budget of $35M.

Warner Bros./New Line/Atomic Monster’s R rated fantasy action adventure MORTAL KOMBAT II, which was to have opened 10/24/25, opened #2 to $40M at 3,503 theatres ($11,419), per Comscore. It’s also done $23M internationally for a worldwide cume of $63M. BUDGET BUZZ: $80M to produce.

MK2 is tracking best for first choice with OVER-25 MEN (12 points over norm). Rotten Tomatoes critics are a blah 65%, but audiences are thumbs up at 89%.

It’s directed by Simon McQuoid, who directed the franchise’s first episode, MORTAL KOMBAT, which opened 4/23/21 to $23.3M domestic. It went on to do $84.4M worldwide on a budget of $55M.

Domestic ticket sales this weekend were $162.1M, according to Comscore Head of Marketplace Trends Paul Dergarabedian. That’s down 6.3% from the prior weekend, but up 89% vs. this time last year. Comscore’s year to date tally has 2026 at $3.02B, up 16.12% from $2.60B in 2025. The prior weekend had 2026 up 14.01% vs. 2025.

Meanwhile, back at the multiplexes: Lionsgate/Universal/GK Films’ PG-13 bio-drama MICHAEL was #3 in weekend three with $36.5M (-33%) at 3,550 theatres ($10,282). It’s done $240.5M domestic (MEN & WOMEN OVER-25) for a worldwide cume of $577.4M.

Amazon MGM Studios’ PG family comedy THE SHEEP DETECTIVES, starring Hugh Jackman, opened #4 to $15.9M at 3,457 theatres ($4,604). It’s tracking best for first choice with OVER-25 WOMEN (equal to norm). Rotten Tomatoes critics are applauding at 93% and audiences are delighted at 96%. BUDGET BUZZ: $75M to produce.

Paramount/Lightstorm Entertainment’s PG-13 3D concert film BILLIE EILISH – HIT ME HARD AND SOFT: THE TOUR opened #5 to $7.5M at 2,613  theatres ($2,870). BUDGET BUZZ: $20M to produce.

Directed by James Cameron & Eilish, it’s tracking best for first choice with UNDER-25 WOMEN (two points over norm). Rotten Tomatoes critics are cheering at 93% while audiences are over-the-moon at 99%.

Next weekend (5/15/26) 🐝🐝🐝🐝: Paramount’s PG “TOP GUN” 40TH ANNIVERSARY REISSUE is opening in theatres Wed., 5/13 for one week only.

TOP GUN stars Tom Cruise as hotshot fighter pilot Maverick, the role he brought back to life in 2022’s PG-13 TOP GUN: MAVERICK, which also is receiving a one week reissue starting 5/13.

Directed by Tony Scott (UNSTOPPABLE), TOP GUN opened 5/16/1986 and did $357.3M worldwide on a budget of $15M.
