March came in like a lion for a second consecutive weekend as HOPPERS brought families back to the multiplexes for a $46M opening.

The Disney/Pixar Animation PG comedy adventure was at 4,000 theatres ($11,500), per Comscore. Hollywood buzz-ards were expecting $40M. It also did $42M internationally for a worldwide cume of $88M. BUDGET BUZZ: $150M to produce.

Directed by Daniel Chong (WE BABY BEARS), HOPPERS is tracking best for first choice with over-25 women (one point over norm). Rotten Tomatoes critics love it at 94% and audiences also are applauding at 94%.

It’s encouraging for exhibitors to see original animated IP like HOPPERS doing sizzling boxoffice business the way animated sequels (like Disney/Pixar’s upcoming TOY STORY 5) typically do. And it’s also a positive sign that something other than horror thrillers is filling seats.

Domestic ticket sales were $96.2M, according to Comscore Head of Marketplace Trends Paul Dergarabedian. That’s down 14.9% from the prior weekend, but up 70% vs. this time last year. Comscore’s year to date tally has 2026 at  $1.30B, up 13.21% from $1.15B in 2025. The prior weekend had 2026 up 9.37% vs. 2025.

Meanwhile, back at the multiplexes: Paramount/Spyglass Media’s R rated horror hit SCREAM 7 was #2 in weekend two with $17.3M (-73%) at 3,540 theatres ($4,887). It’s done $93.4M domestic and $149.5M worldwide. BUDGET BUZZ: $45M to produce with Paramount & Spyglass each paying half.

Moviegoers divorced Warner Bros.’ R rated horror romance THE BRIDE, opening third to $7.3M at 3,304 theatres ($2,197), per Comscore. Hollywood handicappers were buzzing about a $16-18M launch. It also did $6.3M internationally for a worldwide cume of $13.6M. BUDGET BUZZ: $90M to produce.

Directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal (THE LOST DAUGHTER), it stars Christian Bale & Jessie Buckley. BRIDE is tracking best for first choice with over-25 men (equal to norm). Rotten Tomatoes critics are thumbs down at 59% and audiences are a blah 74%.

Sony’s animated GOAT was #4 in weekend four with $6.6M (-45%) at 3,303 theatres ($1,998). It’s done $83.8M domestic & $146.3M worldwide. BUDGET BUZZ: $80M to produce.

Warner Bros./MRC’s WUTHERING HEIGHTS was #5 in weekend for with $3.8M (-44%) at 2,512 theatres ($1,493). It’s done $78.8M domestic & $213.7M worldwide. BUDGET BUZZ: $80M for rights.

Amazon MGM Studios’ R rated crime thriller CRIME 101 was #6 in weekend four with $2.07M (-40%) at 1,910 theatres ($1,082). It’s done $33.6M domestic. BUDGET BUZZ: $90M to produce.

Next weekend (3/13/26) 🐝🐝🐝🐝: Universal’s PG-13 romantic drama REMINDERS OF HIM is opening at about 3,400 theatres. It’s directed by Vanessa Caswill (LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT) and stars Maika Monroe, Tyriq Withers & Rudy Pankow. It’s tracking best for first choice with over-25 women (equal to norm).
