
What looked at first like another big WB hit, turned into WITHERING HEIGHTS this weekend.
Warner Bros./MRC’s R rated romantic drama WUTHERING HEIGHTS, which opened #1 last weekend, slid to #2 in weekend two with $14.2M off (-57%) at 3,682 theatres ($3,857), per Comscore. BUDGET BUZZ: $80M to acquire rights. It’s done $60M domestic & $151.7M worldwide.
Directed and written by Emerald Fennell (PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN), it stars Margot Robbie, Jacob Elordi & Hong Chau.
Sony’s PG original animated action adventure GOAT, which opened #2 last weekend, captured the top spot in weekend two with $17M (-38%) at 3,863 theatres ($4,401), per Comscore. BUDGET BUZZ: $80M to produce.
Directed by Tyree Dillihay (first time feature), it’s done $58.3M domestic & $102.3M worldwide.
Lionsgate/Kingdom Story Co.’s PG faith-based drama I CAN ONLY IMAGINE 2 opened #3 to $8M at 3,105 theatres ($2,576). Co-directed by Andrew Erwin (I CAN ONLY IMAGINE) & Brent Mccorkle (THE RIFT), it’s tracking for first choice below norm for all demos. BUDGET BUZZ: $18M to produce.
The original I CAN ONLY IMAGINE opened 3/16/18 to $17.1M and did $93.5M domestic on a budget of $7M. Rotten Tomatoes critics are unhappy at 62%, but audiences are delighted at 99%.
Domestic ticket sales were $75.2M, according to Comscore Head of Marketplace Trends Paul Dergarabedian. That’s down 38.2% from the prior weekend and down 4% vs. this time last year. Comscore’s year to date tally has 2026 at $1.03B, up 4.89% from $982.1M in 2025. The prior weekend had 2026 up 8.14% vs. 2025.
Meanwhile, back at the multiplexes: Amazon MGM Studios’ R rated crime thriller CRIME 101 was #4 in weekend two with $5.8M (-60%) at 3,105 theatres ($1,826). It’s done $24.7M domestic. BUDGET BUZZ: $90M to produce.
Directed by Bart Layton (THE IMPOSTER), it stars Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan & Halle Berry.
Disney/20th Century Studios’ SEND HELP was #5 in weekend four with $4.5M (-49%) at 2,800 theatres ($). It’s done $55.5M domestic. BUDGET BUZZ: $40M to produce.
A24/Blueprint Pictures’ R rated dramedy HOW TO MAKE A KILLING opened #6 to $3.6M at 1,625 theatres ($2,191).
Directed by John Patton Ford (EMILY THE CRIMINAL), it stars Glen Powell, Margaret Qualley & Jessica Henwick. It’s tracking for first choice below norm for all demos. Rotten Tomatoes critics are thumbs down at 47%, but audiences are okay at 78%.
Next weekend (2/27/26) 🐝🐝🐝🐝: Paramount/Spy Glass Media’s R rated thriller SCREAM 7 is opening at about 3,400 theatres. Hollywood buzz-ards expect it to open to about $40M.

SCREAM VI opened 3/10/23 to $44.4M and did $166.6M on a budget of $35M.
