
Death breathed new life into this weekend’s boxoffice as PREDATOR: BADLANDS opened to $40M.
The 20th Century Studios’ PG-13 sci-fi action adventure kicked off, per Comscore, at 3,725 theatres ($10,738). Going into the weekend, Hollywood handicappers expected $25-30M. By mid-weekend they were thinking $37M. It also did $40M internationally for a worldwide cume of $80M. BUDGET BUZZ: $105M to produce.
PB’s succe$$ is proof again that moviegoers will hit the multiplexes if something they want to see is playing.
Directed by Dan Trachtenberg (PREY), PB stars Elle Fanning & Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi. It’s tracking best for first choice with men over 25 (nine points over norm). Rotten Tomatoes critics are thumbs up at 85% and audiences are applauding at 95%.
The last franchise episode, THE PREDATOR, from 20th Century-Fox & Davis Entertainment — John Davis is a producer of PB — opened 9/14/18 to $24.6M domestic and did $160.5M worldwide on a budget of $88M.
Domestic ticket sales this weekend were $83.1M, according to Comscore Senior Media Analyst Paul Dergarabedian. That’s up 55.8% from the prior weekend and up 15% vs. this time last year. Comscore’s year to date tally has 2025 at $7.17B, up 3.04% from $6.96B in 2024. The prior weekend showed 2025 up 2.93% vs. last year. Flashing back to 6/8, Comscore showed 2025 up by 26.08%.
Meanwhile, back at the multiplexes: Paramount’s REGRETTING YOU was #2 in weekend three with $7.1M — down only 8.87% — at 3,196 theatres ($2,229), per Comscore. It’s done $38.6M domestic and $71M worldwide. BUDGET BUZZ: $30M to produce.
Universal/Blumhouse Productions’ BLACK PHONE 2 was #3 in its fourth weekend with $5.3M (-36%) at 2,943 theatres ($1,801). It’s done $70.1M domestic & $120.4M worldwide. BUDGET BUZZ: $30M to produce.
Next weekend (11/14) 🐝🐝🐝🐝: Paramount’s sci-fi action adventure THE RUNNING MAN is opening at about 3,400 theatres. Set in a near-future world, “Running Man” is TV’s top-rated show and contestants, called Runners, must survive 30 days of being hunted by professional killers with every move broadcast to a bloodthirsty public.
Directed by Edgar Wright (SEAN OF THE DEAD), it stars Glen Powell. Its tracking best for first choice with men over 25 (four points over norm).
Lionsgate’s PG-13 crime thriller NOW YOU SEE ME: NOW YOU DON’T is opening at 3,300 theatres. In NOW, two generations of master illusionists team up to stop a crime syndicate’s diamond driven money laundering schemes.
Directed by Ruben Fleischer (VENOM), its stars include Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Isla Fisher & Morgan Freeman. Its tracking best and equally well for first choice with women under & over 25 (each three points over norm).
The last episode, NOW YOU SEE ME 2, opened 6/10/16 and did $334.9M worldwide on a budget of $90M.
